The tournament gets underway next Friday (Nov. 7) at Gannon University and PennWest Edinboro.
Tip-Off Classic tournament participants Union was ranked No. 2, North Georgia was listed No. 4, and Gannon landed No. 5 in the first ranking poll of the 2025-26 NCAA DII Women’s Basketball season. In addition, Classic participants Minnesota State was also ranked (No. 15) while Northern Michigan and Ferris State received votes.
The WBCA NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll is a ranking of the top women’s college basketball teams in NCAA Division II, as voted on by coaches nationwide.
“We knew that Callie (Wheeler, Edinboro’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach) and Cleve (Wright, Gannon’s Head Women’ Basketball Coach) put together a strong field of teams for the tournament and the Preseason Poll is confirmation of that,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “This is an exceptional field of teams that will provide extraordinary competition throughout the tournament weekend.”
