Explore the Outdoors

Great fishing offers year-round entertainment on our Great Lake, and fall marks the return of Erie’s famous steelhead run. Anglers from across the country descend on our Lake Erie tributaries to try and catch one of the steelhead that our area is known for. History, Art and Culture

Maritime history, modern murals and sculpture walks, and an active calendar of music and theater are just some of the highlights of Erie's cultural scene. Take a step back in time at any of the 18 unique exhibits at the Hagan History Center in downtown Erie, including Frank Lloyd Wright's original San Francisco office. The Erie Maritime Museum offers guests a glimpse into the contributions that Erie and Pennsylvania have made on the maritime industry, including Erie's own tall ship, the Flagship Niagara. Indulge your creative side at the Erie Art Museum, on a self-guided mural arts or sculpture tour or by creating a project at Creation Station! Kids can get in on the action too: the expERIEnce Children's Museum offers hands-on fun, well suited for children up to age 8. Erie welcomes a variety of nationally-touring acts as well as local theater as well - check out the calendars of Erie Events, the Erie Philharmonic and Erie Playhouse to get tickets to a show while you're in town.
