Erie Sports Commission names Sydney Dietz Events and Marketing Manager

Erie, Pa: The Erie Sports Commission announced today that Sydney Dietz has been hired as the organization’s events and marketing manager.

Dietz studied at Mercyhurst University with a dual degree in Graphic Design and Integrated Media and Strategic Communication. While attending Mercyhurst University, Dietz served as the sports editor for the student newspaper, The Merciad. She also worked in the marketing department as a member of the student communication team where she expanded her knowledge in marketing and social media.

“We are extremely happy to have Sydney as a member of our team as our new events and marketing manager,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Sydney’s unique skillset made her an ideal candidate and I am looking forward to working with her as she grows into the position. I am confident that she will help our organization continue to experience success and positively impact Erie County.”

Dietz will be responsible for assisting in attracting and servicing events supported by the Erie Spots Commission, aiding the efforts of current Event Services Director Ben Huggler. She will also be tasked with overseeing the marketing and brand image of the organization.

“I’m excited to start working with the Erie Sports Commission alongside Mark and Ben.” Dietz said. “Erie is a terrific destination and I love having the opportunity to showcase my hometown to others. I can’t wait to continue my journey by growing the sports community in Erie.”

Raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, Dietz has found a passion for local events Erie has to offer. In 2022, Dietz was a strategic marketing intern in the Mayor’s Office where she helped plan and promote local events such as CelebrateErie and the 814 Concert Series. In addition, Dietz plays an active role in the Erie sports community by working game nights for the Erie SeaWolves and the Erie Otters.

Most recently, Dietz worked as an intern for the Disney Co. as a part of Disney Photo Imaging. She was responsible for photographing guests in the parks along with assisting in the sales and marketing of the Photopass services offered throughout the Disney parks.
