The American Kennel Club (AKC) Fast CAT, hosted by the Erie Kennel Club, is bringing back a unique form of competition to Erie County this weekend as dogs race individually in a timed 100-yard dash at Harborcreek Community Park.
The AKC Fast CAT will attract nearly 300 dogs to showcase their speed and connection with their handlers. Dogs are scheduled to compete this Friday through Sunday, with races taking place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Participants will travel from across the tristate area to compete, and spectators can watch the races for free.
“Our annual Fast CAT is one of the most exciting events of the year for the Erie Kennel Club,” said Cindy Stubenhofer, a member of the Erie Kennel Club. “There is no better way to spend a weekend than watching dogs of all breeds and backgrounds do what they love most, running at full speed and having fun. Fast CAT is a great way for an owner to build a relationship with their dog and have fun.”
The Millcreek Summer Sizzler is also welcoming competitors from across the region this Friday through Sunday at the David Long Complex. The 24th Annual Tournament Series will end this weekend after hosting four tournaments this summer.
In total, the tournament series attracted over 40 teams from Ohio, New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
