A Diverse Lineup of Events in Erie This Weekend

The USA BMX Gold Cup Qualifier takes place Friday through Sunday at Lake Shore BMX, bringing in approximately 300 riders traveling from Canada, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia, New York, Ohio and across Pennsylvania. This weekend features two prestigious USA BMX championship qualifying events, drawing top riders from across the Northeast.

Friday kicks off competition with the Race for Life Double Point Race at 6:30 p.m. to support leukemia. Racing continues Saturday at 12 p.m. for the Pennsylvania State Qualifier, followed by the Gold Cup Qualifier at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Next on the lineup is the 6th Annual Kenny Memorial Baseball Tournament (9U, 11U, 13U, 15U), hosted by JPT Foundation. A total of 37 teams from New York, Ohio and across Pennsylvania will be competing in a three-game guarantee format at David G. Long Baseball Complex, Northwestern High School, Girard High School and the Jack Ponsford Baseball Complex. Games will run from Friday through Sunday.

The Kenny Memorial is part of the Silver Series (B Level Tournaments), and a portion of the proceeds will go towards grants and educational scholarships in Kenny Robinson’s name.

The Kenny Memorial Baseball Tournament will continue next weekend, July 24-26, showcasing 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U teams.

Next Tuesday through Thursday is the EPIC Volleyball Varsity Team Camp, taking place at Fort LeBoeuf High School and Elementary School, as well as Fairview High School. A total of 24 teams with approximately 350 participants from New York and across Pennsylvania will be traveling to compete, with several teams from District 7 and 5 in Pennsylvania. Play runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m.
