The Dixie Deaf Golfers Association (D.D.G.A.) was founded on September 15, 1968, after the 4th Annual South Carolina Deaf Golf Tournament, with the goal of promoting deaf golf tournaments for Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina golfers. The organization aimed to unite these states under one banner and improve the status of deaf golfers. Since then, the association has expanded, leading to the formation of the Southeastern Deaf Golf Association (SEDGA) in 1970, which now covers 10 states. The tradition continues with the 2025 Western Pennsylvania Deaf Golfers Association Tournament at Whispering Woods Golf Course in Erie.
