Strongman 2022 1

Erie, Pa: The Strongman Corporation National Championships will return to Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center Friday and Saturday. More than 200 athletes representing 40 states will compete to be named America’s strongest amateur men and women.

Aiming for a national championship in Erie, male and female athletes will compete in 10 weight classes in max weight sandbag toss, log press for reps, and Atlas stones events on Friday. On Saturday, the competition will conclude with the max trap bar deadlift, yoke/wheelbarrow race, and power stairs events. Participating athletes competed at regional events throughout the country in an effort to qualify for this national championship event in Erie.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Strongman Corporation and more than 200 men and women back to Erie after hosting this event for the first time last year,” Erie Sports Commission Executive Director Mark Jeanneret said. “Last year’s event brought athletes from as far as California and Hawaii, and we heard lots of great feedback from the athletes about their experience in Erie.”

Weigh-ins will take place Thursday, while the competition will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Bayfront Convention Center. On each day, the morning session will see women in the 120-, 140- and 160-pound divisions compete, as well as men in the 265-pound and Open divisions. The afternoon sessions will feature the rest of the men’s and women’s divisions.

The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased at the event for $22.75 for adults and $12.50 for children 6-12 years old. As part of an effort to improve the guest experience, Erie Events previously announced that all concession stands at the Bayfront Convention Center will now only accept cashless forms of payment.
