The Color Run Registration Opens Today

Wednesday Feb 8th, 2017

Erie, PA: The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce The Color Run will return to Downtown Erie for the fourth year on Saturday, August 12. The popular run, which sees thousands of participants in Perry Square each year, will stop in Erie during its 2017 tour, The Color Run Dream Tour, Presented by Lay’s®. Registration for the event opens today.

Founded in March 2011, The Color Run is the single largest event series in the world, having hosted more than 300 events in 35 countries. Dubbed “The Happiest 5K on the Planet,” it is an untimed 5K paint race in which thousands of Color Runners start the race wearing white and are doused from head to toe in different colors along the event course.

The Color Run Dream Tour, Presented by Lay’s® will bring runners a fresh experience in 2017 with a brand-new Foam Zone, which will lead runners through dreamy colored foam, as well as new colors in the classic powder Color Zones. Along the course, participants can paint their aspirations on the Dream wall, snap photos with giant unicorns, and, of course, party with friends at the Finish Festival amidst vibrant bursts of color throws.

Each color runner will receive a Dream Tour race shirt, embroidered headband, temporary tattoo, and a one-of-a-kind unicorn finisher’s medal.

The race will begin at Perry Square in Downtown Erie and follow the same route as the 2016 event.

Presale tickets go on sale today for $24.99.

“Erie is continually one of our most popular destination cities, and I couldn’t be happier to bring the race back this summer,” said Eric King, Race Director for The Color Run in Erie. “We’re looking forward to partnering with the Erie Sports Commission to give everyone the happiest day of the summer.”

“The Color Run continues to be a highlight event on our calendar, and it’s certainly one of the most fun days of the year,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “The crew from The Color Run know how to put on a high-energy event, and I can’t wait to see Downtown Erie doused in color once again.”
