19th Annual Event set for Jan. 17-20 at Bayfront Convention Center

Erie, Pa: Two events this weekend will have a major impact on the local economy, generating a combined $2.6 million in estimated economic impact.

Erie, Pa: CollClubSports has announced that the first-ever National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) Women’s National Championship will be held at Gannon University’s Hammermill Center. The first-time event will be held April 17-19.

Applications are now being accepted for the Erie Sports Commission’s Facility Matching Funds Program. Established in 2019, the program provides funds to facilities capable of hosting sporting events, with the intent to continue to grow sports tourism in the region. A total of $10,000 is available for projects in 2020.

Erie, Pa: Two Erie Sports Commission (ESC) staff members have been promoted, effective Jan. 1, 2020. Emily Biddle has been promoted to Marketing and Communications Director, and Ben Huggler has been promoted to Event Services Director.

In its first full year of operation under Executive Director Mark Jeanneret, 2019 marked the biggest and busiest year ever for the Erie Sports Commission. In 2019, the ESC hosted and supported 74 events that spanned 174 event days, a 50% increase from 2018.

Erie, PA: Champion Cheer Central will once again host four cheer and dance competitions in Erie, PA during its 2019-20 season, starting with the annual Lights! Camera! Action! Cheer and Dance Extravaganza on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Bayfront Convention Center.

Archery Encounters will host the Blizzard Bi-Archelon on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Erie Premier Sports Pennbriar. The event is the first USA Archery sanctioned event hosted by Archery Encounters.

Erie, Pa: The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that Erie will serve as the host destination for the 2020 TNT Fireworks B.A.S.S. Nation Northeast Regional Championship. The competition, part of Bassmaster’s B.A.S.S. Nation Series, will be held June 24-26, 2020.
