Ice Breaker Weekend Passes on Sale Tomorrow

ERIE, Pa.: Weekend Passes to the 2018 Ice Breaker Tournament will be released for sale beginning tomorrow (Nov. 22) at 10 a.m., offering Erie sports fans free vouchers to Erie’s professional sports teams for a limited time.

  • One Weekend Pass to the 2018 Ice Breaker Tournament, presented by LECOM (four total games)
  • One Voucher to an Erie Otters game (valid for any January/February 2018 game)
  • One Voucher to an Erie SeaWolves game (not valid on Opening Day or Buck Nights)
  • One Voucher to an Erie BayHawks game
  • One Voucher to an Erie Commodores game
  • Vouchers for all December and January Mercyhurst University men’s ice hockey home games (nine games)
  • Voucher to purchase a $10 ticket to the U.S. Junior National Hockey Team exhibition game against Sweden on December 22 at Erie Insurance Arena


The Erie Sports Package includes 17 games in total, and is valued at more than $150. It will be available for purchase at the Erie Insurance Box Office, or online at for $49 plus taxes and fees.

Fans purchasing tickets Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. will have the opportunity to get pictures with members of the Mercyhurst Men’s Ice Hockey team and mascots from the Erie Otters, Erie BayHawks and Erie SeaWolves. Mercyhurst University President Michael Victor will purchase the first Ice Breaker Weekend Pass.

The Ice Breaker Tournament, which the organizations announced in September, will feature the University of Notre Dame, Providence College, Miami University and Mercyhurst University.

The Ice Breaker Tournament, the traditional start to the college ice hockey season, annually brings together four of the nation’s top Division I men’s ice hockey teams from four different conferences. The event is hosted by College Hockey Inc. and the Hockey Commissioners Association and began in 1997.
