First-Ever NCBBA-W National Championship to be held in Erie

Erie, Pa:  CollClubSports has announced that the first-ever National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) Women’s National Championship will be held at Gannon University’s Hammermill Center. The first-time event will be held April 17-19.

CollClubSports is a compilation of governing bodies which oversee collegiate club athletics. One of its governing bodies, the National Club Football Association (NCFA), has hosted a playoff game annually in Erie since 2016.

NCBBA Logo 003The winners of each of the seven regional playoff tournaments, plus one at-large bid team, will compete in the single elimination tournament to be crowned the NCBBA Women’s National Champion. In addition to the tournament, a skills competition will be held Friday, April 17 and an All-Star Game on Saturday, April 18.

The National Championship Game will be held Sunday, April 19 at 2 p.m.

“We’re honored to host the first-ever NCBBA Women’s National Championships here in Erie, PA,” said Mark Jeanneret, Erie Sports Commission Executive Director. “The ESC has established a great relationship with CollClubSports over the years. We’re looking forward to welcoming these athletes and their families to our community, and further solidifying our relationship with CollClubSports through this prestigious event.”

“I can’t explain how excited we are to bring the National Championship to Gannon University,” said Sandy Sanderson, President of Basketball Operations for the NCBBA. “I’d like to thank the Erie Sports Commission. They have always been a great partner in the past when we have held other events in Erie and helped make this event possible. We cannot wait for the participating teams to see what a beautiful city Erie is and for the first-ever Women’s National Champion to be crowned at Gannon University.”
