Champion Cheer Central 2018-19 Schedule Kicks off Saturday

Erie event schedule starts with annual Lights! Camera! Action! Cheer and Dance Extravaganza Dec. 1

Erie, PA: The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that Albion-based Champion Cheer Central will once again host four cheer and dance competitions in Erie, PA during its 2018-19 season, starting with the annual Lights! Camera! Action! Cheer and Dance Extravaganza on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Bayfront Convention Center.  

DSC 5136More than 75 school, recreation and all-star cheer and dance squads from the tri-state area are expected to compete in the event. 

Champion Cheer Central will host three more events in Erie during its 2018-19 season. The sixth annual Erie Winter Beach Blast Cheer and Dance Championships will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 at the Bayfront Convention Center. The 2018 event saw more than 1,000 athletes compete in Erie. Similar numbers are expected in 2019.

Champions of Dance, in its third year, will move to a new weekend and be hosted in conjunction with the Lake Erie National Cheer and Dance Championships, one of Champion Cheer Central’s premier national competitions. Champions Weekend will be held Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. All dance competition will be held at Champions of Dance at the Bayfront Convention Center on Saturday, where a Hip Hop Master Class and Jazz Master Class will precede the all-dance competition. The Lake Erie National Cheer and Dance Championships, which will be a two-day event for the first time, will be contested at Erie Insurance Arena Saturday and Sunday. The national event will see more than 1,500 athletes compete from throughout the Great Lakes and Northeast regions.

With the support of the Erie Sports Commission and our partners locally, I am confident that Champion Cheer Central will continue to thrive in Erie.”

The estimated economic impact of all four Champion Cheer Central events is approximately $1.4 million.

Champion Cheer Central has been operating cheerleading camps and cheer and dance competitions for more than 28 years. Competitions are regularly hosted in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York.
