PA State Bowling Open Championships
The 80th Annual Pennsylvania State Bowling Championship Tournament is scheduled to take place in Erie, PA beginning April 6. The tournament takes place over ten weekends from April through June.
Nearly 5,000 bowlers are expected to take part in the tournament in 2019. The event will be held each Saturday and Sunday from April 6 through April 28, with the exception of April 20-21, in observance of Easter. The competition will be held each Friday through Sunday from May 3 through June 16.
The event will highlight charitable causes on two of its competition weekends, as they host Strike Out Cancer May 10-12 and Bowlers to Veterans Link on May 24-26.
As part of its "Strike Out Cancer" weekend, PA USBC will donate a portion of its proceeds from the weekend’s competition to Bowl For the Cure®, a USBC-sponsored fundraising initiative for breast cancer.
Rolling Meadow Lanes will serve as host for the five-person team event. The minor events, consisting of doubles and singles tournaments, will be conducted at Eastway Lanes. Bowlers will be competing for a prize fund in excess of $170,000 in both scratch and handicap divisions.
The event will be hosted by the Northwestern PA USBC.
The Pennsylvania State Bowling Association promotes, organizes and conducts annual tournaments for the members of the Pennsylvania local associations and to the best of its ability promotes and fosters the game of American tenpins with the assistance and guidance of the United States Bowling Congress. This includes operating a State Hall of Fame, a State Jamboree (Convention), Championship Tournament, Seniors Tournament, Mixed Tournament, Masters Tournament and support to the Pennsylvania State USBC youth program.
