Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Invitational
Erie Gymnastics will hold its 19th Annual Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Invitational January 17-20, 2020 at the Bayfront Convention Center. Nearly 2,000 athletes from 6 different states are expected to compete in the event, which is regarded as the largest gymnastics competition in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the eastern United States.
The Main Event, featuring the competition's top-level gymnasts, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.
The event, which was founded in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, offers free admission to all members of the military, police, fire and rescue workers. Each year, a portion of the event’s proceeds are donated to a military, police or fire and rescue-based organization.
Since its inception, Erie Gymnastics has raised nearly $100,000 for related charities through the Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Invitational. The benefiting charity for the 2020 event is the Erie Police Action League (Erie PAL). Erie PAL works to unlock the power of the "cop-kid relationship," with programming aimed at reducing crime in Erie's neighborhoods, promoting positive character development and improving educational outcomes for area children.
Admission is $15 for adults, $7 for children over age 3, and free for members of the military, police and fire and rescue workers.
