Annual Event Expects 2,000 Players at Bayfront Convention Center March 9-11

Erie, PA: The Pennsylvania State 8-Ball Tournament will host its 36th annual event at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, Pa. March 9-11, 2018. The tournament, hosted annually by Warner Coin Machine, is the fourth largest 8-ball tournament in the country. Nearly 200 tables will be set up for competition, as 2,000 players will travel from across the state and beyond for the event.

Players must have competed in a VNEA- sanctioned league in order to participate in the tournament. Entries are currently being accepted at Warner Coin Machine.

The tournament will begin Friday, March 9 at 3 p.m. with the singles competition. Team competition will begin Saturday, March 10 at 9 a.m. and continue Sunday, March 12, also beginning at 9 a.m.

The event will feature pool entertainers Tom Rossman, also known as “Dr. Cue”, and Dave Pearson. Rossman has appeared in more than 5,000 shows, teaching clinics and special event appearances since 1974. Pearson is a British professional pool player who currently holds four records in the Guinness Book of World Records and has performed regularly on major network television, including Good Morning America and The Today Show.

Tickets for spectators are available at the door for $5 per day or $10 for a three-day pass.

“I’m so proud of the growth this tournament has experienced in 36 years, starting as a small tournament with four tables, to now being the fourth largest in the country,” said Rod Didion, the Tournament Coordinator from Warner Coin Machine. “Seeing thousands of 8-ball players in one place at one time is an experience pretty unique to Erie. I’d invite anyone with even the slightest interest in pool, whether as a participant or spectator, to join us that weekend.”

“Hosting an event of this magnitude one time is an accomplishment. Hosting an event of this magnitude for the 36th year is tremendous,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Warner Coin has done a remarkable job in creating such a fun and impactful event in our community, and we are proud to call them partners.”
