Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Invitational
Erie Gymnastics will hold its 17th Annual Stars and Stripes Gymnastics Invitational January 12-15, 2018 at the Bayfront Convention Center. Nearly 1,800 athletes are expected to compete in the event, which is regarded as the largest gymnastics competition in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the eastern United States.
The Main Event, featuring the competition's top-level gymnasts, is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 13.
The event, which was founded in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, offers free admission to all members of the military, police, fire and rescue workers. Each year, a portion of the event’s proceeds are donated to a military, police or fire and rescue-based organization. The benefiting charity for the 2018 is the Fallen Soldiers Picnic Fund.
In 2017, Erie Gymnastics Center donated more than $14,000 to two Erie County fire departments – Brookside Volunteer Fire Department in Harborcreek, and Fairfield Hose Company VFD in Lawrence Park – following the Stars and Stripes Invitational.
Admission is $14 for adults, $7 for children over age 3, and free for members of the military, police and fire and rescue workers.
